CALCIUM NITRATE
CALCIUM NITRATE as cement additive and Fertilizer
Calcium Nitrate is mainly used as a nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture and is produced in granulated form. It is also used in wastewater pre-conditioning for odor emission prevention, and in set accelerating concrete admixtures. The dissolution of anhydrous calcium nitrate is highly endothermic so used as COLD PACKS.
Calcium Nitrate for construction work - At this dosage, calcium nitrite also acts as a setting and hardening accelerator. In the case of repair works where a layer of about 100 mm.
The effect of calcium nitrate on compressive strength is that it increases the very early strength (e.g. 8 h) due to more maturity caused by earlier strength, about equal 1 day strength, but higher long term strength. The latter effect is probably due to the formation of nitrate-AFm, C3A·Ca(NO3)2·10H2O, and the stabilisation of ettringite leading to more bound water, less porosity and thereby higher strength.
Calcium Nitrate also used in such industrial processes as the manufacture of fertilizers, matches, and radio tubes.
Calcium Nitrate In wastewater treatment, calcium nitrate has two key purposes: to remove odors caused by hydrogen sulfide and to prevent oxygen deficiency. Calcium nitrate has been investigated as an agent to control sulfide generation by sulfate reducing bacteria in oily, waste water environments.
