It is used in making fibers, ceramics, gas analyses and for Welding fluxes. Cupric Oxide is used as a catalyst and in catalyst preparation. Cupric Oxide (CuO) is the higher oxide of copper. Cupric oxide is used as a pigment in ceramics to produce blue, and green glazes.

Cuprous oxide nanoparticles (Cu2O NPs) were fabricated in reverse micellar templates by using lipopeptidal biosurfactant as a stabilizing agent.
This demonstration activity should take about 20 minutes. The reaction is violent but safe, provided the procedure is followed exactly. A rehearsal is essential if this experiment has not been done before.
