Malachite green has classically been used by the light microscopist for the demonstration of fungi and bacterial spores

Product Description:

Malachite green has classically been used by the light microscopist for the demonstration of fungi and bacterial spores. It is a weakly basic diaminotri- phenylmethane dye with useful indicator properties at both very high and very low pH  Malachite Green is used for bacterial spore staining by Schaeffer and Fulton`s method. It can also be used in place of methyl green in the Pappenheim stain, when combined with the Gram stain.

Product Application:

It is used as a biological stain for microscopic analysis of cell biology and tissue samples. In the Gimenez staining method, basic fuchsin stains bacteria red or magenta, and malachite green is used as a blue-green counterstain. ... Malachite green is in a class of molecules called fluorophores.

Product Procedure:

Typically cures ich in 24 hours, treatment can be repeated in 24-48 hours, if necessary. If fish experience stress, change 50% of the water. Sometimes treatment will take 10 days to fully irradiate infestations.

Product Note:

Malachite green is used for routine staining methods in bacteriology, e. g. the spore-staining method acc. to Rakette (differential spore staining with malachite green in bacteriological samples). The dye is used in a hot staining method to stain specifically target struc tures. Counterstain with a red dye.

MALACHITE GREEN helps for TREATMENT of DISEASES in FISH

Saprolegnia parasitica is a rapidly spreading and fatal fungal parasite affecting both fish and fish eggs. It is conventionally treated with MALACHITE GREEN  (diamino-triphenylmethane), but though this treatment is highly effective, the use of malachite green carries with it a number of potential problems: the compound has been suggested as a possible carcinogen and teratogen, though these effects are as yet unproven; being a strong dye, it tends to discolour water, and can under certain conditions cause staining of fish which have been treated; it has a relatively long withholding period, so that significant residues can be present in treated fish when they are harvested and sold for consumption.
